Dear colleagues
Regarding the migration of the website on Coremedia 8 the KSB homepage is being revised. The go-live has been planned for the end of January 2016.
When the project started, the different requirements of the divisions and countries had been collected and the final design had been discussed.
In order to come up to the requirements of the different KSB divisions and countries a new set with specific modules is being created for the homepage (homage modular system). The single modules for each homepage are flexibly combinable, fillable and customizable.
Reasons for the homepage revision
- A user survey showed that the homepage came across slightly confusing
- The “contact “has to be a central element of the homepage. Therefore it will be displayed on each page as a “sticky” element
- Topis have to be stressed and the users have to be guided more effectively. The hompage is supposed to be a “distribution-centre” and guides the user to the contents required. The links to the most relevant topics are located above the line.
-The countries have different requirements to a homepage and only a flexible, modular system can come up to it.
KSB shall be shown as an innovative enterprise. The new design refleclets that since it is up to date an modern.
The new homepage consists of the following modules
1.Metanavigation
Functional area with country selection and language selection, subsidiary selection and search. Furthermore the metanavigation offers space for links to external KSB portals e.g. the customer portal. The module replaces partly the navigator.
2.Main navigation
Fillable by editor
3.Sticky element
Contact and newsletter registration stay at the right margin and can always be seen, thus user can get in touch at any time easily.
4.Homepage stage
The new stage shall offer the user a topically focused access to the KSB world. For this reason the previous slider is not needed anymore. Instead, the stage only contains one single highlight topic. Suggested is a quick overview regarding KSB. For special occasions the stage can be changed editorially.
5. Service bar
The module offers the user a quick access to the essential KSB services, like e.g. the download area and the product catalogue. Big click areas and the lay-out reduction to the most essential shall encourage the user to click. Each link can be presented by a short text.
6.Service list
This module is similar to the service bar regarding its function and also offers the possibility to set up target-group specific quick accesses.
7.Highlight teaser
The highlight teaser gets a lot of attention by its presentation using up the whole width capacity. This module is very useful for dividing the website into topical areas , but even for the placing of relevant topics, which should get a special visibility.
8.Article teaser (1/3, 2/3, 3/3)
In this module further topics of focus can be placed. There are article teasers in different formats.
9.List teaser
By this module several links, which are connected topically, can be summed up in an overview. This can for example be added by an article teaser regarding the same topic.
10.Date teaser
The date teaser highlights individual elements, like e.g. a soon coming up trade fair. The module is designed in a way to get enough attention from the user amongst the other modules on the one hand and brightens as well the overall picture of the page.
11.News list
A dynamic list automatically showing the latest press releases. The module offers the user an overview of current press releases and can be used as an access to the press area by means of the link at the end of the dynamic list.
12.Footer / Social-Media Bar
The footer has been extended by a social media bar in order to motivate the user to get in touch at the bottom of the homepage and in order to place the social media channels in a way that they get more attention.
As we announced last year our editorial system Coremedia is being migrated from version 6 to version 8. Due to the expiring support this is essential. For all departments and countries there will be trainings worldwide between October and December. During this trainings you will be asked to lay out the new country websites on site together with the web administrators. You will receive a detailled agenda for the trainings from mid September.
The training will be based on the actual system Coremedia 8 The layout for the new homepage is scheduled to take up 1 up 1.5 days. If required please prepare the new contents.
In September we will carry out a first data copy from the former Coremedia system. Another data copy is planned for the end of December, so that you will not have to enter the data, entered between September and December, again in Coremedia 8.
After the second data copy you will kindly be asked to look at the respective pages within Coremedia again and check their validity.
Right now we assume that 90% of the data will be transferred automatically. However, you are advised to schedule some time in January for potential adaptions
Kind regards
